HELPFUL TIP- Oven Safety:
If your oven has concealed elements, do NOT mistake the bottom of the oven for a shelf on which to place a drip pan or aluminum foil. Doing so can lead to serious and costly damage. Aluminum foil or pans placed directly on the oven floor can melt onto the enamel surface permanently, creating an unsightly mess that is nearly impossible to remove. This not only compromises the appearance of your oven but can also interfere with its performance. The melted aluminum can block heat from rising properly, causing uneven cooking and even leading to short circuits in the heating elements — a significant oven safety hazard.
Additionally, research has shown that aluminum exposure at high temperatures may release harmful chemicals, which could pose potential health risks. Using an oven that continuously heats melted aluminum to extreme temperatures may lead to unintended chemical exposure. To prevent these issues, always use an oven-safe baking sheet or a designated drip tray on a rack instead of placing anything directly on the oven floor. The general rule of thumb is to never put anything on the bottom of the oven, as it can obstruct airflow, reduce efficiency, and lead to costly repairs over time.
